Iran ‘Pet Man’ nominated at Spanish fest

Iran animated piece ‘Pet Man’ has been shortlisted by Spain’s International Environmental Film Festival (FICMA) to run for the Golden Sun Award of its 24th edition, 2017.

Directed by Marzieh Abrar Paydar, ‘Pet Man’ tells the story of a pet shop owner who is asleep in the shop. He finds himself in a terrifying cage with other animals. Trying to break out, he faces a barrier each time.

Made in 2016, the film was produced in the Iranian center for development of documentary and experimental cinema.

The animation has so far participated in a number of international events, including the 40th Festival international du Court Metrage in France, the 21st Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival in South Korea and the 2017 edition of the Innsbruck Nature Film Festival in Austria.

It has already won two international awards from the third NEZ International Film Festival in India and Canterbury Festival in the United Kingdom and got an award nomination from the 10th edition of the Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival 2017.

Launched in 1993, FICMA aims at generating a positive social change using the cinema and all the artistic expressions.

Works from different countries will compete in the best documentary, best short documentary and best short film sections of FICMA 2017 to receive the Golden Sun Award.

The 24th International Environmental Film Festival is slated to be held November 2-9, in Barcelona, Spain
